Why we built it
Video is where a huge share of useful knowledge now lives — lectures, interviews, product walkthroughs, conference talks, podcasts. But video is a terrible archive: you cannot skim it, search it, quote it, or copy a paragraph out of it. The words are in there; they are just locked behind a timeline.
A transcript unlocks that. Once a video is text, everything you already know how to do with text works again: search, quote, summarise, translate, export. Toucora exists to make that step instant and reliable.
What we believe
- Show your work. Answers cite the exact timestamp they came from. If we cannot point to a receipt, we should not claim it.
- Be honest about the source. Manual captions and automatic captions are not the same quality. We label which one you are reading, and we are straight with you when a video has no captions at all.
- The reader matters. A transcript is for reading, not for scrolling. We keep the text in a bounded, searchable pane instead of an endless wall.
- Respect the creators. Transcripts belong to the people who made the videos. We give you the text; using it well, and crediting it, is on you.
Meet Cora
Cora is our toco toucan. A toucan’s oversized bill makes it the bird that “speaks” without words — a fitting guide for a product that listens to video and hands you back language. She appears in the workspace, the empty states, and the marketing; she does not type your commit messages.
How Toucora works
Paste a YouTube link. Toucora reads the caption track the video already carries (or YouTube’s automatic captions when no manual track exists), normalises the text, and shows it beside the player. From there you can summarise, ask questions, find chapters and quotes, search by meaning, find clips, translate, repurpose, and export as TXT, SRT, VTT or Markdown. Bulk jobs handle playlists and channels, and a developer API powers it for teams.
