What we collect
- Video URLs you submit, so we can extract and cache the transcript. Cached transcripts are tied to the video, not to you.
- An anonymous device id, stored in your browser, used only to apply the free daily usage allowance. It is not an account and we do not use it to identify you.
- Basic usage events (for example “summary opened”), used in aggregate to understand which features matter. These are not tied to a personal profile.
- Messages you send us via the contact page, used only to answer you.
What we do not do
- We do not sell your data.
- We do not require an account to use the core tool.
- We do not read your clipboard or files. The “Paste” button only reads the clipboard when you click it.
Cookies and storage
We use browser storage (localStorage) to remember your output preferences — with or without timestamps, clean mode — and your anonymous usage id. We do not use advertising cookies.
Third parties
To produce a transcript we query YouTube’s caption service. Video playback uses YouTube’s privacy-enhanced embed (youtube-nocookie.com). If AI features are enabled on a deployment, transcript text may be sent to the configured AI provider to generate summaries, answers or translations; that text is the video’s content, not your personal data.
Retention
Transcripts are cached to make repeat requests fast and are retained while useful. Anonymous usage counters reset daily. Contact messages are kept only as long as needed to resolve your request.
Your choices
You can clear your preference and usage data at any time by clearing site data in your browser. For access, correction or deletion requests, contact us and we will help.
